Cute is 'Cute', But Some Like It 'Hot'

I have been really flattered by all the positive feedback received due to Layla! I never imagined she would do so well in such a short period of time. Because of this, I will have my first *CONTEST* - the prize being (of course), Layla the Lovebug Pattern.

BUT, before we get into that, I wanted to introduce you to Lu.
Lu is a cute little stinker who isn't quite sure what to make of Valentine's Day - but he certainly loves all the passionate kisses and steamy romance associated with it.

From the tip of his horns, to the twist in his tail, he is all about the romance... and of course the Valentine's Day chocolates - which is evident from his rather ample tush.

The finishing touches are being put on Lu and he should be available either later on this evening or tomorrow in my Etsy store.  I truly hope you like Lu and have as much fun making him as I did.

So, okay, getting back to the whole contest thing - Just leave me your thoughts and email address (if not a blogster) in a post below and you'll be entered for a chance to win Layla the Lovebug Pattern.
Winner will be blogged/announced on Sunday - February 7th, 2010.
Good Luck to all who enter.

Hmm.. Well...

The project I had been working on and that I wanted to post as my freebie ...
let's just say it isn't as *special* as I thought it was going to be once it was all put together ...
so back to the drawing board.
So, unfortunately, the purple and pink... thing... will have to wait..
HOWEVER, I did mention that I had another pattern which was all ready to go into my shop.. ???
Although my sister is going to have a *hissy-mad-cow fit*, I am just going to give it away here on my blog  :)

A so-simple little 'gag' Valentine's Day gift, you'll be able to make a whole army of squirmers before the 14th.

Layla the Lovebug Amigurumi Pattern

Layla the Lovebug *pattern* is up in the Etsy Shop for purchase.  She would have been up last night, but a trusted friend urged me to take more photos of her for the pdf file.  Currently I am not selling the finished doll - I am trying to make her a counterpart (however, I seriously doubt I will be able to have him completed and tested before February 14th - but we will see.)

I am also working on a freebie for my blog inspired by my children and their insatiable appetite for things that are pink and purple.  I am hoping to have that and another Valentine's Day item completed by this Weekend.  (It's all just a matter of writing up the patterns at this point.)

And then there is poor ole Polar Pal Phred who's been lying around for the past 2 weeks without any legs.  Well, you'll be happy to learn that his legs have arrived - along with a tail... and a few photographs later accompanied by a few more keystrokes; and he will join the rest of his Polar Pals in my etsy shop.

Love Is In the Air..

Since putting away all the Christmas holiday decorations, the house has felt somewhat lacking of the 'festive' attitude that is so abundant during the Fall and early Winter months.  ... and yes dear friends, I have already begun the countdown to NEXT CHRISTMAS...
but we do have a few holidays to get to before then .. yes?

Introducing Layla the Lovebug.
She's flown in for this Valentine's Day on her petite little heart wings to warm your heart, or the heart of your special someone.  At 13 inches tall Layla says "I love you" with just a glance.

Available after January 22nd 2010 @ My Etsy Shop

Perfect Weather...

... for my little 'Polar Pal' Phred, who is coming along nicely.  Since it is snowing again today, I thought I would post a few more photos of him as he is coming along.
I wasn't going to give him 'legs' - but after seeing him *blobbing* in the snow, I have decided to give him some polar paws :)

Hope you like him.  Isn't he just the cutest in his little hat and scarf?

Baby It's Cold Outside...

The weekend before Christmas, we were 'blessed' (?) with a Nor'easter that dumped 2 feet of snow on us - guaranteeing a 'White Christmas'.  Then, just like with the itsy-bitsy spider, the rain came an washed a good 85% of it away - before New Years.

This past weekend, it began snowing Friday late (after midnight) and didn't end truly until Monday morning (early, early am) leaving a new white coating on the ground which would be about 7 or 8 inches (had the winds not had everything drift so much).

But one of my all-time favorite games in the winter time is to look for tracks in the snow and try to guess who's been paying visits to my yard.  Mostly a bunch of birds, squirrels, moles, field mice and rabbits, occasionally a skunk or possum, some raccoons - heck, there's even been a fox or coyote print or two to follow.

But there were prints this morning that were baffling.  They looked human - but so very tiny... at first I thought that someone was playing with Barbie dolls outside... but that would be impossible as it is very very cold.  Not quite Alaska cold, but then again, AK cold is humidity free (nearly) and NE cold is just freggin COLD!

I did what anyone who is curious of mind... I followed the tracks.  Which seemed to follow the squirrel for a while..  but then I discovered her.. such a cute little thing I had to step back for a moment and grab for my camera..

Sadly, she disappeared as quickly as she appeared - straight into my neighbor's waiting arms.  (She's yet to name her, but I will be sure to update, when this little cutie gets her name.)

I've since found out, that this beautiful little 'Eskimo' was created by Jennifer Creasey and you can pick up your very own here or at her main shop at polarbeads. This was truly a simple project, which took me only about 8 hours to complete with many, MANY interruptions from children and chores.

A Very Exciting Start to the New Year

I was goofing on the Internet spending my Christmas Cash and headed on over to Annie's Attic's Website and Boom!! There is was..
One of my testers and friend, was picked up several months ago by DRG Publishing. (So I knew it was coming) but to see it in the 'flesh' so to speak...
I am so excited for her!!
I actually screamed and had to phone her the minute I saw the cover!  (she had not seen the cover, nor did she know that it had been placed up on the Annie's Attic Website yet)
If you click on the 'see more photos' option, you can see all 7 designs!
Debi was a cake decorator for many years, so really, her crochet versions of these baked goods are so close to the real thing, you may just want to take a nibble!  Not only does she have this book, but she has other cake patterns selling on etsy under the seller name FourBeesDesigns.
Please, do yourself the luxury of checking out her products and do your friends a favor by purchasing this book!  They will love the creations it allows you to make!!!
