Hogwart's Horde

Going back to school.....

MAGIC SCHOOL that is!!

Okay, I know, I am a GEEK - but I love me some Harry Potter!
I don't follow the whole Harry Potter clan/website/blogs/conventions/everything else..
but I do love the movies and own all of them thus far as well as all of the original books.

But I can't wait to go back to Hogwarts!!

I just love the whole idea of the magical realm.. the simplest ideas entertain my mind..
such as the 'every flavor imaginable' candies... where YES, you might just get an piece that tastes like earwax or vomit (HP II) ... ... and the candies which make you sound like an animal (HP I)

And I LOVE the creatures from the tale as well..
Buckbeak (the Hippogriff) and Norbert/a (a dragon Hagrid hatches from egg) are my favorites to date.. but Fluffy was also a sweetie pie!! and ya'll just know I have to hold Fang (a Neapoliton Mastiff at least in the movies) close to my heart - just because he reminds me so much of our own beloved pooch.. "a bloody coward"

So to the Hub, when I walked downstairs this afternoon with my latest WIP..
and with the upcoming 5th installation of the storyline in the movies in mid July...
..
He was SOOOO NOT surprised.. lol

I share the pictures with you here :o)

I've still got Ron's scarf to get done, his school cape and his wand. I am not sure if I want to attempt to make Scabbers...
And I began working on Hermione late this afternoon.

Harry will be the last of the kid trio I make.
I am also contiplating making Dumbledore, Hagrid and Professor McGonagall.

Okay.. what??!
I told you I was a geek...
you ought to see me over the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy...
lol

Courtesy Pattern : CP03 - Nope.. NOT gonna say it!

I can easily say "Summer just aint my thing!"

In fact, I think aside from when I was very young, I don't think I've ever cherished the "summertime" and those things that most people associate with the season.

Tanning & the Beach:
Nope, I've never been big on wasting an afternoon slapping on oils and creams for that 1980's ever-so-popular *leathery George Hamilton skin* (and as we now know - possible skin cancer)..
as far as the beach..  swimming around in water with things unseen... umm... did you NOT see the movie JAWS?

Cookouts - Picnics - Day Trips:
Ugh... Bugs - Humidity - Sweat - Body Oder from passers-by..

*cringe*

But here we are mid-to-late June and I am still wearing a sweat jacket!

The past 4 days have been wet and dreary!! What one might expect in a late September or early October...

Definitely NOT June slowly plugging it's way into July!

Usually, this time of the year, I would have stuck the yarn in storage for the season and have my threads close at hand.

I think it's safe to say...
Dare I?

I kind of miss Summer!!

There, I said it.
I can't believe that the words actually escaped my thoughts.. but they did and it's on the loose now.

I guess that I miss summer so much, the dry - hot - hazy- humid days of Summer that I actually created a new pattern that reflects all the adjectives which adequately describe *Summer*

Family Pain(s) : A Cactus Family Papa supporting the family. Momma always on his back. And of course, the 2 littlest thorns who are always scrambling for top billing.

YARN (I used colors: terracotta (RedHeart's 0256-Carrot), sand (Red Heart's 0334-Buff, cactus (RedHeart's 4361-Frosty Green Fleck) and scraps of pink for flower.)

Embroidery Floss or Yarn for detailing

Yarn Needle (for sewing)

An Apple for the Teacher

When the people came off the bus excitedly yapping about only having 11 days left of school, my heart skipped a few beats!!

Oh my gawsh, is it really that close to summer vacation? Is there really that LITTLE time left before I have to be a FULL TIME Mom again without a few hours break during the week?

Oh no. . . . do I really have nothing in the ole' crochet reserve to give to these teachers as a *thanks for putting up with teaching my kid* parting gift???

After searching through hundreds of patterns, trying to decide exactly what to make for a teacher which I've had some SERIOUS rough patches with...

I decided to make a wormy apple. Okay.. classic "teacher" icon..
but... I don't really have the time to pull together something else. Way too much going on and I still have 3 more 'teacher' items to make before the end of school!

Major boo-boo on my part, loosing track of time such as I did.

Well, one down and 3 to go... (and 3 more to figure out ... 'exactly what do I make for this one?')
