Courtesy Pattern : CP67 - Love Those Hooters

CROCHET PATTERN

Love Those Hooters

On this, the final day of FDbyK4TT helping to spread awareness for this year's Breast Cancer Awareness Month; I would be remiss if I didn't share with my readers the most valuable information for breast health.

Not only good diet, healthy habits and regular Mammograms (beginning at age 30 and regularly, once a year, every year there after), but also 'self-checks' MONTHLY.
The link contained above, will help to provide the best methods for the personal detection of concerns in the breast.

Perhaps the most important part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is not the pretense of saying "hey.. did you know this disease exists" - but to set a 'clock of sorts', to remind everyone to take a single day every October - to check yourself and make sure you are doing all you can to prevent or detect Breast Cancer.
The more you know about your own body - the more likely you are to detect disease early enough to have a positive outcome.

___ Rnd 14: [sc in ea of nxt 7 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times (24 sts)
___ Rnd 15: sc in ea st around  (24 sts)
___ Rnd 16: [sc in ea of nxt 6 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times (21 sts)
___ Rnd 17: [sc in ea of nxt 5 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times (18 sts)
___ Rnd 18: sc in ea st around  (18 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to whipstitch the top of the Body closed.  With snippets of yarn of all color you've used in the creation of your hooter - add some 'feathers' to each of the corners at the top of the Head area.  Model uses a more 'tassel' like approach to create the head feathers.

WING: (Make 2) - this piece is worked in ROWS with turns - I do not utilize turning chains
with Baby Pink,
___ ROW 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st, TURN (6 sts)
___ ROW 2: Inc in ea st across, TURN  (12 sts)
___ ROW 3: (sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st) 3 times, (Inc in nxt st, sc in nxt st) 3 times  (18 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Wing to Body slightly halved.

EYEBALL: (Make 2)
with White,
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (12 sts)
___ Rnd 3: in BLO, slst in ea st around  (12 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Eyeball to Body.

PUPIL: (Make 2)
with Black,
Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to weave through the front loops of round to close opening creating a small bobble - and secure to Head.
OR you can use embroidery or plastic button to create Pupil on Eyeballs

BEAK: (Make 1)
with Gold,
Chain 2, Yarn over (yo), insert the hook in 2nd ch from hook, yo, draw the yarn through the stitch, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, (yo twice, and draw yarn through the 2 lps on the hook, twice) 3 times, yo, draw yarn through 2 lps on hook, yo, draw through all 6 lps on hook, ch-1.
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Beak between eyes on Owl.

With contrasting color (Baby Pink used in model) embroider some "V" stitches to simulate 'feathers' on belly area of your Owl.
With White, add points of light to the eyes if you used fiber to create them.
Model used a wire brush to 'fuzz out' the head feathers.
Add any other personal touches to create your own version of this project.
