Courtesy Pattern : CP62 - Tula the Tulip

Originally meant to be part of a set - Tula was a CAL from a few years ago, so I know some people may have her.  But I never did get around to make her garden friends....
So, since I was beginning to feel guilty at not putting out/up anything new; and with my injury still giving my problems - I figured I would put this out for anyone who wanted to make!
I hope you enjoy!

___ Rnd 8: in BLO, loosely slst in ea st around  (48 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Spot to Cap.

Spots sizes are any variation of the above instructions.
Example: for a medium spot: work Rnds 1 through 4, then repeat Rnds 7 & 8 with corresponding end count – Rnds 1 through 4 = a total of 32 sts & Rounds 7 & 8, would equal 32 not 48.

Make as few or as many Spots as you wish to create your ideal project.

CROCHET PATTERN
CP15 - Mother's Day
Daffodil in Vase

How did you find the energy, Mom
To do all the things you did,
To be teacher, nurse and counselor
To me, when I was a kid.

How did you do it all, Mom,
Be a chauffeur, cook and friend,
Yet find time to be a playmate,
I just can’t comprehend.

I see now it was love, Mom
That made you come whenever I'd call,
Your inexhaustible love, Mom
And I thank you for it all.

Courtesy Pattern : CP09 - Heal The World - With Sunshine

"Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race.
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for
You and for me.

And the dream we would conceived in
Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we once believed in
Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep strangling life
Wound this earth, crucify it's soul
Though it's plain to see, this world is heavenly
Be God's glow.

We could fly so high
Let our spirits never die
In my heart I feel
You are all my brothers
Create a world with no fear
Together we'll cry happy tears
See the nations turn
Their swords into plowshares
We could really get there
If you cared enough for the living
Make a little space to make a better place."

I understand not everyone enjoys, or even likes Michael Jackson or his music, but I ask of you today - this day of the 'celebration' of life, to give the gift of L.O.V.E to another.

Please donate today.  Whether donating financially to help a starving child, or to protect endangered wildlife. Donating your time to a local shelter for abused animals or simply picking up the litter that lines the streets -
WE can change this world and make it a better place...
all we have to do is look with our hearts instead of our eyes.

Materials Used:
Red Heart WW Yarns in colors: 0320 Cornmeal, (petals) 0624 TeaLeaf (stem),  0365 Coffee (flower center)
Crochet Hook, size  US E4/3.50 MM
2 foot Roasting Stick (or  2 foot, #2 pencil diameter,  wooden dowel)
4-6 Wooden Bamboo Skewers
6-8 Wooden Popsicle Sticks
Polyester Filler
Sewing Needle
Knitting Needle (or long needle to create opening to insert skewer)
Long Straight Pins for positioning/sewing

Finished flower measures nearly 3 feet in height and almost 12 inches in width.  This, of course, will vary depending on your crocheting gauge and/or tension.  All stitches are worked in a continuous spiral though both loops of previous stitch, using single crochet, unless otherwise noted.
This project is completed in several smaller sections, joined together in a manner which creates one complete project.
Pattern is written in a manner which also displays the easiest way to assemble; creating the bud base of the flower first, then the petals and finally the stem.  Although, you are free to create your pieces in any order that fits your needs.

Bud Base – Face Section (Make 1):
with Coffee,
Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 7 sc in st.
___ Rnd 2:  [Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (14 sts)
___ Rnd 3:  in BLO, [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (21 sts)
___ Rnd 4:  in BLO, [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (28 sts)
___ Rnd5:   in BLO, [sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (35 sts)
___ Rnd 6:  in BLO, [sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (42 sts)
___ Rnd 7:  [sc in ea of nxt 5 sts, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (49 sts)
___ Rnd 8:  sc in ea st around  (49 sts)
Finish off and weave in tail.

Bud Base- Back Section (Make 1):

with TeaLeaf,
Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 7 sc in st.
___ Rnd 2:  [Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (14 sts)
___ Rnd 3:  [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (21 sts)
___ Rnd 4:  [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (28 sts)
___ Rnd5:   [sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (35 sts)
___ Rnd 6:  [sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (42 sts)
___ Rnd 7:  [sc in ea of nxt 5 sts, Inc in nxt st] 7 times  (49 sts)
___ Rnd 8:  sc in ea st around  (49 sts)
___ Rnd 9:  [sc in ea of nxt 7 sts, chain 7, slst in 2nd chain from hook and in nxt ch,  sc in nxt st, hdc in nxt st, dc in ea of nxt 2 sts, slst in same st as chain] 7 times
Finish off, leaving enough yarn remaining to sew front and back pieces together – stuff with filling before closing up completely.  Do not stuff too firmly as you will need to insert bamboo skewers through the filler from 1 side to the other to help ensure that pedals remain erect.  Do not stuff too lightly as you will want a ‘puffed’ look to the center of the bud.

Petals (Make 28)
with Cornmeal,
Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 7 sc in st.
___ Rnd 2:  sc in ea st around  (7 sts)
___ Rnd 3:  Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 3 sts  ( 9 sts)
___ Rnds 4-5:  sc in ea st around  (9 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 6:  Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 4 sts  (11 sts)
___ Rnds 7-9:  sc in ea st around  (11 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 10:  (Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 2 sts) twice, Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 4 sts  (14 sts)
___ Rnds  11-17:  sc in ea st around  (14 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 18:  sc in ea of nxt 10 sts, (Dec nxt 2 sts tog) twice  (12 sts)
___ Rnd 19:  sc in ea st around  (12 sts)
___ Rnd 20:  sc in ea of nxt 9 sts,  Dec nxt 3 sts tog  (10 sts)
___ Rnd  21: sc in ea st around  (10 sts)
___ Rnd  22:  Dec nxt 2 sts tog, sc in ea of nxt 6 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog  (8 sts)
___ Rnd 23:  sc in ea st around  (8 sts)
___ Rnd 24:  Dec nxt 2 sts tog, sc in ea of nxt 6 sts  (7 sts)
Finish off, leaving enough yarn remaining to sew petal to bud base.

Once you have all petals completed, insert popsicle sticks into the center of several petals (# of petals stuffed with popsicle sticks determined by # of skewers used/ 2 petals per skewer).  Using pins, secure petals in a circular pattern to bud base, in 2 rows/ 14 petals per row.
Once you have even spacing and are happy with the aesthetics of petal placement – remove top row, exposing only the back row.  Using a knitting needle, push needle through one side of bud and out the other (creating a tunnel through the filler); follow needle with bamboo skewer. (you will have part of wooden skewer exposed on both sides of bud base)  Do this at least one more time creating a -|- or X type pattern to assist in keeping petals erect.    Model uses 4 skewers to help support the large petals.  Insert skewer into petals stuffed with popsicle sticks - then secure petals to bud base.

Stem (Make 1)

with TeaLeaf,
Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 7 sc in st.
___ Rnd 2:  in BLO, sc in ea st around  (7 sts)
___ Rnds 3-103: sc in ea st around  (7 sts/ea rnd)

___ ROW 1:  sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, ch-1, turn  (4 sts)
___ Row 2:  sc in ea st across, ch-1, turn  (4 sts)
___ Row 3:  [Dec nxt 2 sts tog] twice  ( 2 sts)
Finish off, leaving enough yarn remaining to sew the stem to the back of the bud base.

Enjoy the Pattern :o)
