Gearing Up -

This week has been .. well, it's been a week!

Monday, it POURED!  And I do mean poured - was more like a dreary winter day than a life-giving Spring day..
But I was able, in between whining about the bad weather and closing windows because it was that bone chilling cold inside the house, I began making progress on adding the word "pattern" to all my current patterns on etsy.com

Why?  Well aside from the occasional "I thought I was buying the finished doll." and having to cancel an order - or whatever - I will eventually begin listing Finished Models/Items within the etsy.com shop you are already familiar with.
I need to re-establish a P.O. Box first, but wanted to be prepared - so within the next few weeks, you will begin seeing "finished items" listed as well as patterns.
(and yes - I do have 1 complete set of the "Tribute Characters" that will be going up.)

In addition, I have also been instructed on how to add the 'shopping cart' to this blog - Yeah!!  So, those who wish to make multiple purchases without leaving the FiberDoodles Blog will be able to do so.  It is time consuming, but I hope to have all buttons done by midweek at the latest.

I hope that these changes will make your FiberDoodles experience even better.  I am always seeking new ways to make things easier for my clients.  If you have a suggestion, please feel free to eMail me at fiberdoodles [at] gmail [dot] com.  I will be happy to take them under advisement.

Easter 2012

Happy Easter to You and Your Family this Easter Sunday.

There's a story quite funny,
About a toy bunny,
And the wonderful things she can do;
Every bright Easter morning,
Without warning,
She colors eggs, red, green, or blue.

Some she covers with spots,
Some with quaint little dots,
And some with strange mixed colors, too
-- Red and green, blue and yellow,
But each unlike his fellow
Are eggs of every hue.

And it's odd, as folks say,
That on no other day
In all of the whole year through,
Does this wonderful bunny,
So busy and funny,
Color eggs of every hue.

If this story you doubt
She will soon find you out,
And what do you think she will do?
On the next Easter morning
She'll bring you without warning,
Those eggs of every hue.

Etsy - "How I Do Things"

I received an eMail this morning asking about why I do not renew listings on etsy.com .. that reminded me of an eMail I received (and answered) several months ago asking about another 'odd' thing I do regarding the FiberDoodles by K4TT etsy.com shop...

So.. to clear things up so there are no misunderstandings ..

Why?
"Why do you make new listings for your products?  When I put it in my favorites, and it sells, then I have to go favorite it again.  I keep things I want to buy in my favorites and it is annoying to have to favorite things over and over again!"

Answer:
I do not 'renew' the sold copy for one reason - I watch the page views.  If the page views are low, then that shows little interest in any particular item.  While I do not like that I am causing anyone more work; keeping an eye on what is getting viewed not only keeps me creating in the right direction, but also keeps costs low.  Etsy.com charges a fee to list a product, if page views are not re-set to zero, I could waste time designing a similar style item that no one is interested in or continue to list items which are not in demand.
All of my patterns are always available here, on the FiberDoodlesbyK4TT blog.

Why?
"Why did you wait to leave feedback? I didn't get a picture, but I paid you on time."

Answer:
This is one of the policies which I do not like with regards to etsy.com. I value feedback greatly in all areas where I do business.  To me, feedback is your reputation, a company or person who has a string of 'negative comments' about services or interactions - I know is a risky transaction and personally, I weigh that against the desire to do business with them.
I am not being lazy or forgetful.  I used to leave feedback immediately after marking an item as "shipped" and sending out the obligatory "you pattern has been sent" message.  But it happened, that I had someone steal from the etsy.com shop.  I had already given them positive feedback and was not allowed to change it.
This was not a "tit for tat", but I respect many of my fellow designers and I know that many designers look at someone's feedback before accepting orders - especially for large orders or order which are for finished items, which will take up valuable resources to complete.  Leaving feedback that is not accurate does little good and protects no one.

My feedback blurbs are as follows...
Positive Feedback with a photo and the blurb "Thank you for your purchase. Immediate payment!  Enjoy your pattern!"  (or variation) is left for someone who leaves feedback or communicates receipt via eMail or message upon receipt of purchase.
Positive Feedback with no photo and the blurb "Thank you for your purchase. Immediate payment!  Enjoy your pattern!" is left for someone who does not leave feedback or communicate with me to let me know they have received their pattern, but more than 30 days has passed.

I would never want someone to leave for FDbyK4TT, less than truthful feedback, as I value my feedback, not only to keep me working diligently to please my clients - but to allow your fellow crafters to know that FDbyK4TT is a reliable seller with a good record and return customers. (which speaks volumes!)

Please, NEVER be afraid to ask me questions.  I would rather take a moment to answer what someone might consider to be a "stupid question", than to have you leave my shop with an uneasy feeling.

Exhausted...

It's all that blasted 'clik' 'clik' 'clik'

I have reluctantly re-opened "my etsy shop".
Many have speculated as to why I closed the shop to begin with... and while it would be extremely unprofessional to speak out against etsy.com; I will say that I disagree strongly (as well as many others - just check out regresty.com) with etsy's policies .. or lack of enforcement of "policy".

However, there have been numerous eMails asking for either a 'shopping cart' to be added to my blog or that purchasers have a choice.  Raverly.com is out for newer patterns (less than a year old) as with the Instant Download, I have very little say on the marketing and sales of the product.
I had re-opened my zibbet.com shop - but, understandably people are tired of having to 'sign-up' for new memberships.  So, I can either waste an entire day trying to figure out how to install the paypal.com shopping cart to my blog OR... relist items on etsy.com (which so many of you are familiar with anyhow).

Soo...
You asked for it - - - You got it!

Do You Know What April Is?

It's National "Adopt a Greyhound Month"~~  (4 yrs and counting!)

One of my all-time favorite etsy shops .. from the other side of the tracks (you know, DOGS.. ptooey!) is a bigtime advocate of Greyhounds and for Greyhound Rescues  (proceeds go to helping these slender - and often abused - hounds find furr-ever homes)...
I knew that "Greyhound Adoption Month" was coming.. but upon checking my eMail this morning, got a friendly reminder...

This commercial, was absolutely adorable!!  and did it's job.  Cal, who is doing his 'video bio' back in 2008, found his furr-ever home not long after this commercial aired.
"In 2008, the Greyhound Project produced a series of public service announcements to promote greyhound adoption. One of the spots, seen here, featured a black greyhound named Cal who was looking for a long term commitment. Fortunately for Cal, he was adopted soon after filming. But there are thousands more pleasant and adorable greyhound just like him waiting in adoption groups around the world for their forever homes. For more information about greyhounds and where to find an adoption group near you, please visit The Greyhound Project at www.adopt-a-greyhound.org"
So, if you are looking for that special someone to help complete your life, and just haven't been able to find "Mr./Mrs. Right"; perhaps you are just looking at the wrong species. Contact the Greyhound Project for further information.
