Courtesy Pattern : CP59 - Funny Little Bunny



As chosen by the Doodlers via the poll conducted this week - This Month's FREEBIE is a quickie little project that can be used for any number of decorative items..
From Easter Baskets to nick knacks - this Bunny is the perfect size for a delightful project.

Funny Little Bunny

Skill Level: Easy / Advanced Beginner
Measurements: 7 inches tall (approx.) 
Gauge :  Not critical for this project
Yardage :  Main Color: less than 7oz/364yds, Accent Colors: less than 4oz/202yds

- This pattern is worked in continuous spiral rounds unless otherwise noted.
- This pattern utilizes standard US Crochet Terms.
- Any changes in materials to this pattern, (hook size/yarn weight) will not produce the approximate size listed.

Red Heart® WW 4-Ply Yarn in 0311 Aran, 0724 Baby Pink, 0369 Mushroom, 0311 White and 0312 Black 
Size G/6-4.00mm Crochet Hook (US)
Filling for Plushies (fiberfil or similar) 
Tapestry Needle for sewing
Long Straight Pins for positioning


Head/Body (Make 1) : 
with Aran,
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (12 sts)
___ Rnd 3: [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (18 sts)
___ Rnd 4: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (24 sts)
___ Rnd 5: [sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (30 sts)
___ Rnd 6: sc in ea st around  (30 sts)
___ Rnd 7: [sc in ea of nxt 9 sts, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (33 sts)

___ Rnd 25: [sc in ea of nxt 7 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times  (24 sts)
___ Rnd 26: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 6 times  (18 sts)
___ Rnd 27: [Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 9 times  (9 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail to weave through the front loops of Rnd 27 to close opening so that no stuffing can escape.


Eye (Make 2) : 
with White,
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (9 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Eye to Head.
With contrasting color (Mushroom used in model), outline Eye so it stands out from Head.

Once your Eye is complete and secured to Head, use Mushroom to give him some 'eyebrows' above each Eye.


Pupil (Make 2) : 
with Black,
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, (5 sc, slst) in st (6 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Pupil to Eye.
OR You can opt to embroider Pupil directly on Eye.
With White, add a point of light to the Pupil.



Nose (Make 1) : 
with Baby Pink,
Chain 4,

___ Rnd 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in nxt st, 3 sc in end ch st - rotate piece to allow you to work up the other side of original beg chain (as if a flat round), sc in nxt st, Inc in last ch (8 sts)
___ Rnd 2: (Inc in nxt st, sc in nxt st) 4 times  (12 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Nose to Head, slightly a top lower part of eyes and centered between them.


Ear (Make 2) : 
with Mushroom,
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (12 sts)
___ Rnd 3: [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (18 sts)
___ Rnd 4: [sc in ea of nxt 5 sts, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (21 sts)
___ Rnds 5-6: sc in ea st around  (21 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 7: [sc in ea of nxt 5 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times, changing to Aran on lst st (18 sts)

with Aran,

Finish off, leaving sufficient tail to weave through the front loops of Rnd 15 to close opening so that no stuffing can escape.
With separate piece of yarn, secure Foot to Body.
Repeat Rnds 1 through 15 once more, omitting the color change on Rnd 4.
With Aran, using long stitches, create the appearance of 'toes' on Foot.
With Baby Pink, using your preferred embroidery technique, give your Bunny some toe pads on each Foot.  Model uses Mushroom to outline the lower parts of each toe pad.


Tail (Make 1) : 
with White,
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (9 sts)
___ Rnd 3: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (12 sts)

Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Tail centered to backside of the Body.
