CP60 - Asher the Avocado

Trying to get back into the swing of things... and I needed something that would make me SMILE.
Now, I personally have no love for this food..  but I have quite a few friends who just love their avocado sandwiches, dips and whatever else this little fruit has to offer.
And for those that love avocados, just the thought of them smiling.. makes me smile.

NEWS:

As you may have noticed from the dates above - we will have a FFFG this week.
As I know the upcoming weeks are going to be hectic!!  I have a senior graduating this year!!  AND preparing for her Senior Prom - so I have no clue what I am going to be able to get done crochet wise after this week!!

I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to those who sent me condolences and warm wishes.  It's been a very hard week.  I have begun work on 2 special remembrances.  One will be a Courtesy Pattern - the other will be a Premium Pattern that many will receive a coupon for to receive it free
.

I will not be available via Internet, including eMail on Sunday, 5 May 2019.  This is my eldest daughter's birthday and she has asked me for some special time together that will take me out of the home and away from devices capable of consistent Internet connection; she calls it "survival mode" - most of us consider it 'hiking'.

WEEK 30 : THIS WEEK'S HAPPENINGS

WEEK 30: 15 April through 21 April 2019

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

- Monday, April 15th: Weekly Announcement Update

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

NEWS:

There is a LOT of news to get to..

1) Your Input: I conducted a poll at the beginning of the month about hook sizes. and then recently I asked a question regarding a potential addition to my patterns.
And from it, I learned I was perfect!  LOL - Just Kidding!!

Far from perfect, but it does appear that Doodlers are happy with my patterns and the hook sizes I use on those patterns; and really don't want me to change a thing!

HOOK SIZE:

Way back in 2007, 08 and probably into 09..  I was using what most people know as steel THREAD hooks to work most of my amigurumi.  Size 00  (which if memory serves, is close to either a B or a C hook)..  with the RedHeart Super Saver WW yarn..
At that time, there were complaints that the hooks were too small, the pain too great, etc.
It was shortly after, that I developed what is commonly referred to as a "Bible's Wart" in my wrist..  (this type of cyst garnered that name because in the 'old days' when the cyst appeared, they would take the heaviest book in the home - typically a bible - and WHACK the cyst to break it.. )

I had to release the stress on my wrist(s).  I began using standard yarn hooks and eventually settled with a G for most amigurumis.
It was noted that many of my patterns work up generally the same with any hook - from the small C hook, to the larger H hook!  That's good to know!
So work at your comfort level, not mine!  Overall, only the 'size of the project' will be affected!

VISUAL TABLES:
I am not sure what I am going to do regarding the addition of 'visual tables' into my crochet patterns.  There was not a huge interest in them from Doodlers - an almost rebellion from die-hard Doodlers and a take it or leave it vibe from those just looking for freebies.
It does make the pattern writing much longer than using actual words (props to those who write patterns like this!), but that is just the writing - I do worry about the 'testing' of this area as well.
Since it was mainly to prevent inaccuracies in 'translated patterns' (from online translators); perhaps it is just something to shelf for now.
Time will tell!

Important to note: NO, I am not looking for translators.  I have had many offers to translate my patterns into Russian, French, Dutch, Spanish.... etc..  you name it, I've probably gotten a private message, eMail or comment; offering the 'translation services' of whomever, to change the language into something that I can't understand.
Problem is - if I can't speak it, I can't write it - if I can't write it, I can't read it... therefore, I cannot verify it's accuracy, nor could I help anyone having trouble with the completion of their doodle.

It's more than a few lines of instructions that is going out to help others to create some fiber art.  It's a brand.. FiberDoodles by K4TT.

2) Courtesy Pattern:  I am trying to get up a pattern prior to Easter Sunday.  In writing up the Date Points, I kept wanting to say "- Wednesday, April 17th" or "- Friday, April 19th", but I do not want to make any promises that I can't keep. (My children have a Spring Break Vacay this week - so juggling crochet time between regular Mom Duties!)
I can only say, that the FREEBIE will be up on my blog and announced on Facebook when it is done, later on this week.

3) Family Matters: Sadly, my beastie, Eris, is still gravely ill and it's just a matter of time before we lose her.  Sadly, putting her down is no longer an option, as I have maxed out my credit card in trying to get her well - the last visit to the vet on Thursday, which should have been her last; only resulted in more antibiotics and liver supplements that have proven to do nothing of benefit for her :(  So it's just a matter of trying to keep her comfortable now until her body quits.  And yes, I am bitter - but more over, I am heartsick.
But as this is not "crochet news" (as I have been told), lets move on - shall we?
If you purchased a pattern between March 10th & 15th to assist with her medical bills - thank you!  Please send me an eMail so that I can add your name to the list for a special thank you coming later on this month (I hope).
This will be my last post about "my dog" - while many have offered prayer and have requested updates - I've had several who've been "annoyed"?  "put off".. not sure the correct wording - but they don't want to hear about my sick dog...
so, I am trying to refocus my mind onto other things.

WEEK 28 : THIS WEEK'S HAPPENINGS

WEEK 28: 1 April through 7 April 2019

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

- Monday, April 1st: Weekly Announcement Update
- Wednesday, April 3rd: BOGO Sale on Ravelry

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

NEWS:

1) Easter is only a few short weeks away!  (The 21st of April is when the US will celebrate Easter Sunday!) and I am still trying to get out some Easter themed patterns.  These were created last year, tested and ready to go except for photos..
Sadly, one of the models cannot be located.. :( so I have been slowly trying to remake it so I can take photos.

2) On Wednesday, I will offer the first "sale" of the year.  A BOGO (Buy One Get One).  Details and coupon code will be posted on a separate post on Wednesday, 3 April.  So if you are looking for a deal on that special pattern - you may want to mark your calendar!

3) I have received several eMails and some grief over the Retired KISS Series patterns.
These patterns are NOT AVAILABLE.  I retired them over the course of several months to alert everyone to their retirement and I am sorry, but they are no longer available to purchase.  They are in the process of changing copyright ownership.

4) Finally, even after making a plea last week to stop abusing Courtesy Patterns; I received a message over the weekend alerting me that once again I was ignored.  Several groups have translated patterns and posted them in their groups.
Very upsetting to hear of this.  Please respect designers and their wishes!
