Size US G/9-5.50mm crochet hook
Filling for Plushies (fiberfil or similar)

Head/Body  (Make 1) *Head and only up to Rnd 14 contain stuffing, the remainder is flattened together.  If using Safety Eyes, Models' eyes are placed approximately between Rnds 5 & 6 and spaced  about 4 stitches apart
With Aran,
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (12 sts)
___ Rnd 3: [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (18 sts)
___ Rnd 4: sc in ea st around  (18 sts)
___ Rnd 5: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (24 sts)
___ Rnds 6-7: sc in ea st around  (24 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 8: [sc in ea of nxt 6 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times  (21 sts)
___ Rnd 9: [sc in ea of nxt 5 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times  (18 sts)
___ Rnd 10: [(Dec nxt 3 sts tog) twice, sc in ea of nxt 3 sts] twice  (10 sts)
___ Rnds 11-21: sc in ea st around  (10 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 22: [sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] twice  (8 sts)
___ Rnd 23: sc in ea st around  (8 sts)
___ Rnd 24: [Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 4 times  (4 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail to weave through the front loops of Rnd 24 to close opening.  Secure and weave in tail to hide.

Shell  (Make 1) :  *in the interest of space, color changes are NOT indicated – ea odd Row in Model is Honeydew (or any LIGHT color), ea even Rnd in Model is Turqua (or any CONTRASTING color)  – Shell is stuffed VERY lightly (just enough to prohibit Shell from becoming flat)
begin with HoneyDew,
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 4 sc in st (4 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [Inc in nxt st, sc in nxt st] twice  (6 sts)
___ Rnd 3: [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (9 sts)
___ Rnd 4: sc in ea st around  (9 sts)
___ Rnd 5: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (12 sts)
___ Rnds 6-22: sc in ea st around  (12 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 23: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times  (9 sts)
Finish off with Honeydew, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Shell to Body & to help Shell remain rolled.  (approximately 16-24in)
___ Rnd 24: in FLO, [(sc, hdc, sc) in nxt st] 9 times  (27 sts)
Finish off with Turqua.  Secure and weave in tail to hide.

Tentacle  (Make 2) :
Chain 3, slst in 2nd ch from hook, slst in ea of nxt 2 sts  (3 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Tentacle to top of Head.

Assembly: Begin by rolling the Shell from Rnd 1 to Rnd 22 (Rnd 1 will be at center).  Make several passes, using the tail remaining at end of Rnd 21 to keep shell from 'unrolling'.  I exited & re-entered into Honeydew coloring at each Honeydew color band at top of Shell - for a total of 5 seuring long stitches - taking yarn and needle through each layer to keep in place.
You may wish to spread your 'securing stiches' further apart depending on what you will be using this amigurumi for.  Once Shell is complete and unable to roll or dislogde from its coil - carefully secure bottom of Shell to 'back' of Body/Mantle.
If you have not already done so, give your little Snail some eyes.
