Palmer the Bald Eagle

Being a city-dwelling East Coaster for 90% of my life, large birds of prey are not uncommon - but it's mostly hawks, and owls - rarely ever have I seen a Bald Eagle.
But, for the years I lived in Alaska, these beautiful and majestic skydivers were bountiful!

Little Palmer takes exception to being called "bald".  His white snowy hairdoo is in fact, very full of feathers, and no where near close to bald - but a name is a name.
Perhaps the forefathers of science, who originally came up with the title; with their failing eye-sight, were bald?

Palmer loves being the U.S. Mascot... er um... "National Symbol"... but in reality he cares very little about politics or country boundaries.   Palmer just loves fishing along the coast line and feeling the winds beneath his wings.  If being the National Bird frees him up to fish in peace - then he's all for it.

This little eaglet wants to help you celebrate the patriotic holidays, honor the military member in your family or just befriend a bird lover (with lots of fish).
Although smaller than his wilder brothers, Palmer is still out to impress, at nearly 15 inches in height.

15 pages of detail oriented photographs, tutorials and written instructions, help you to create this easy "Sculpt-Gurumi" friend for giving, sharing or just showing off your Patriotic Pride.  BONUS United States Flag pattern accompanies Palmer.

Battalion Chief Palmer died at 9:59 EST as the South Tower of the World Trade Center - collapsed moments after he reached victims on the 78th floor - He was the first one to the impact zone.

Sharing Sunday

I have gotten so many wonderful photographs from my clients!  I just LOVE showing them off... it is just finding the time to do so - so today I am MAKING the time to do so!!

Late April, I received photos of this gorgeousness little kitty from Angela.  Although she was completely happy with the results of her finished project, I suspect her other 3 kitties were a little less than pleased with having to share the garden with Sneeze the Siamese!  Thank you Angela for not only sharing your sweet kitties with me, but for allowing me to share them with my readers!

Christiane created a sweet little Peeps as a Birthday Gift for a little girl on Election Day in France :)  How sweet and special!  Thank you for allowing me to share your sweet little Peeps with my readers.

My favorite photos have got to be kids with my doodles.  Joelien has been gracious enough to share these photos  (Since my blog is open to the public, I have blurred the photos for the safety of the child) - it just makes your heart MELT!!!  This is just so precious to see.  The giant smile with an armful of doodles and sleepy comfort that doodles can bring!!  Thank you so much Joelien for sharing your little one with me - this is truly the reason FiberDoodles exist!

... and who says boss' don't get any love?  Sara made this sweet little Bunny for her husband's Boss who had just had a baby girl at Easter Time.  So sweet!!

Thank you to all you ladies who've allowed me to share your beautiful creations with my followers.  If you would like to see your photo featured on the FiberDoodles by K4TT blog, simply purchase a pattern and send me a photo.  I love showing off my clients' work - and will always obtain permission before sharing your photo.

Poultry is Poultry?

Readers who've followed me long enough, know that I get some of the wildest excitement from seeing my doodles done by another's hand.  Their version of my vision.  The artistic flare that their eye sees when they view one of my doodles.  What their mind actually envisions when they view one of my completed designs.    Where they would take it, how they would do it differently.. make it 'their own'.

It's just very ... it is amazing to see where others take you on their journey of creativity.  I find myself often thinking  - OMG!  I didn't even see that!  How original!  Something as simple as a color change, or an extra embellishment here or there...  well it really can put a whole new spin on a design.

In April of this year, a brilliantly creative client of mine had purchased several patterns from both the KISS Series as well as the Sculptured line.   She was generous enough to share the photographs of her wonderful KISS Zebra and Lion; but it had been some time since I had heard from her. The last I heard, she said she was going to begin working on a bunny...

That was until the other day..
"Dear K4TT, a few months ago I purchased your Pilan the Poult pattern and I was so busy I never got to create it. I just wanted to share these few pictures with you. Your pattern was a great inspiration when a friend of mine needed a hen for a Christmas gift for her 2 year old niece. I just used your body part as head and vice versa (to have a smaller and more hen-like head) and created a comb. My friend loves it very very much and I can't wait till Christmas to hear about her niece's reaction. So thank you very much for you great work! You are my inspiration."

UPDATE: "My friend likes the chicken so much that she won't give it away and she will give it to her daughter instead. Just to keep it home."

Needless to say, I am so thrilled!  Thrilled!!!  I LOVE the chicken!!  I think it is so brilliant!!  So adorable and just the sweetest derivative works created from one of my designs!

Hmm.. I think I may actually want it to come to the States to live with me... :)

Thank you for sharing Zuzana - Your friend is truly blessed to have you in her life.  It is wonderful clients like you, Zuzana, which inspire me.  I want to see what you do with Maxie... hmm.. but since you've not purchased him, I think I will just have to send him to you.

Baby Boo Makes His DayBoo

Ha Ha, couldn't resist...

Baby Boo with his little Pumpkin made his debut in the FiberDoodles by K4TT etsy shop late last night.  This frightfully adorable little ghost is perfect for the office, kitchen decor or just to keep your little one company while watching their favorite Halloween spooky tale.

The pattern is written so that those who are familiar and comfortable with making jointed dolls, can easily use this technique to make Boo pose-able (legs and arms) or have him in the static standing position.

Listed as "Intermediate" and under the heading of "Scupt gurumi" - Boo's hardest feature is the detailing of the chubby cheeks area.   If you've wanted to try one of my Scupt gurumi pieces, but thought it a bit too detail oriented, this is the perfect pattern for you to get your feet wet with.

Sneeze the Siamese

Poor Sneeze.  She, like I, suffer greatly from seasonal allergies; but can't seem to resist the warm summer breezes and watching all of nature's beauty outdoors.
We often sit for hours just watching the birds, the squirrels and whatever else decides to show up during our morning coffee...

Today, however, was slightly more interactive.  Sneeze made a new friend and spent the morning chasing this little Cabbage butterfly.  Sneeze was hoping that you'd like to also be friends with her and perhaps she can play with many more butterflies in your garden.

Sneeze the Siamese will be available soon in the shop for your crocheting enjoyment.

Panda Therapy

My Mum knew I had been feeling 'down lately' so she sent me one of those annoying 'pass-it-along' emails which I always get on her case for forwarding to me.  (My Mum is the Princess of SPAM Mail) This particular email caught my attention with the Subject of "Panda Therapy".
OMG... there were about 15 photos of these absolutely gorgeous creatures in various adorable positions.  Lying on a bamboo branch, sleeping, eating...

Once again, Mum was right..
Panda Therapy was just what the doctor ordered!

Introducing, Qinling the Giant Panda Cub.

In the wild, the Giant Panda spends its life roaming in the bamboo forests of the Qinling Mountains.  These creatures fascinate and inspire me and my diet.  Did you know that although the panda has a digestive track that would allow it to be a 'carnivore', it prefers eating bamboo shoots.  Vegetarians! (Just cause you can, doesn't mean you should - my motto!)
But perhaps my love of this endangered, exotic beauty is the simplicity of the message that I receive mentally each time I see one.  Yin-Yang.. Black/White..
Harmony/Balance.

Qinling will be available soon in my etsy store.

A Last Minute Introduction

I did not think that I would be able to complete this little fellow, let alone have him tested before Easter Sunday.
But, with a little elbow grease and a few carrot-y bribes..

Benton has sprung to life.

Now Benton isn't into the whole Easter tradition of Chocolate Bunnies and Candy Baskets.. but he loves all the attention that Bunnies get around this holiday.  He loves the limelight - and of course, his big juicy carrot.
From his over-sized bunny toes to the tip of his noggin, Benton stands at an impressive 13 inches tall.

Cluny the St Paddy's Day Cow

Cluny - Irish for "from the meadow"

Cluny was thrilled to receive an invitation to his neighbor's St. Patrick's Day Party.  Dressed in his finest St Paddy's attire, Cluny was ready to party.  Although, he's not quite sure why he was asked to bring cabbage.
Won't you invite him to your St Patrick's Day Celebration - at least he can rest assured he won't become the main dish.

Cluny will be available on Etsy: Friday, March 5th 2010

Available Now

Due to some family/medical issues, it took me a bit longer than I anticipated to get Maximus proofed and written up for sale in the etsy shop; but he's finally there.

I truly hope you take the opportunity to make Maximus - the photos (IMHO) really just don't do him the regal justice he deserves.   The colors used on him really make him warm and inviting.  I am so very proud :)

And while I am busy with Maximus' cousin *grin*, I thought I would leave you with some WONDERFUL images of Lu and Layla that my customers have done.

March is Coming...

and so is Maximus..

But you won't have to wait weeks.
The final proofing is being done now and Maximus will be available this weekend in my etsy shop.

Cute is 'Cute', But Some Like It 'Hot'

I have been really flattered by all the positive feedback received due to Layla! I never imagined she would do so well in such a short period of time. Because of this, I will have my first *CONTEST* - the prize being (of course), Layla the Lovebug Pattern.

BUT, before we get into that, I wanted to introduce you to Lu.
Lu is a cute little stinker who isn't quite sure what to make of Valentine's Day - but he certainly loves all the passionate kisses and steamy romance associated with it.

From the tip of his horns, to the twist in his tail, he is all about the romance... and of course the Valentine's Day chocolates - which is evident from his rather ample tush.

The finishing touches are being put on Lu and he should be available either later on this evening or tomorrow in my Etsy store.  I truly hope you like Lu and have as much fun making him as I did.

CONTEST INFORMATION:
So, okay, getting back to the whole contest thing - Just leave me your thoughts and email address (if not a blogster) in a post below and you'll be entered for a chance to win Layla the Lovebug Pattern.
Winner will be blogged/announced on Sunday - February 7th, 2010.
Good Luck to all who enter.

Love Is In the Air..

Since putting away all the Christmas holiday decorations, the house has felt somewhat lacking of the 'festive' attitude that is so abundant during the Fall and early Winter months.  ... and yes dear friends, I have already begun the countdown to NEXT CHRISTMAS...
but we do have a few holidays to get to before then .. yes?

Introducing Layla the Lovebug.
She's flown in for this Valentine's Day on her petite little heart wings to warm your heart, or the heart of your special someone.  At 13 inches tall Layla says "I love you" with just a glance.

Available after January 22nd 2010 @ My Etsy Shop
