Courtesy Pattern : CP50 - Happy Little Pill

Some love to say take a "Chill Pill" while others like to call it taking a "Happy Pill"..
for me, it's a Red Pill (no really, one of the pills I rely on daily  is red!)




This one just makes a little bit more of a statement than most would be expecting.
:P


Skill Level: Easy / Advanced Beginner
Measurements: 7.25 inches tall - Pill Only (approx.) 
Gauge :  Not critical for this project
Yardage :  Main Color: less than 7oz/364yds, Accent Colors: less than 4oz/202yds


General Notes:
- This pattern is worked in continuous spiral rounds unless otherwise noted.
- This pattern utilizes standard US Crochet Terms.
- Any changes in materials to this pattern, (hook size/yarn weight) will not produce the approximate size listed.



Materials Used in Model: 
Red Heart® WW 4-Ply Yarn in 0319 Cherry Red, 0334 Buff, 0311 White and 0312 Black 
Size G/6-4.00mm Crochet Hook (US)
Filling for Plushies (fiberfil or similar) 
Crochet Needle for sewing
Long Straight Pins for positioning


Pill  (Make 1):
with Cherry Red, 
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (12 sts)
___ Rnd 3: [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (18 sts)
___ Rnd 4: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (24 sts)
___ Rnd 5: [sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (30 sts)
___ Rnd 6: sc in ea st around  (30 sts)
___ Rnd 7: [sc in ea of nxt 9 sts, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (33 sts)
___ Rnd 8: [sc in ea of nxt 10 sts, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (36 sts)

Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to weave through the front loops of Rnd 36 to close opening so that no stuffing can escape.


Lrg Eye  (Make 1):
with White, 
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (12 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Large Eye to Pill.

Lrg Pupil  (Make 1):
with Black, 
Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 2 hdc, ch-1, slst in st (2 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Large Pupil to Large Eye.


Sm Eye  (Make 1):
with White, 
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st] 3 times  (9 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Small Eye to Pill.

Sm Pupil  (Make 1):
with Black, 
Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, hdc, ch-1, slst in st (1 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Small Pupil to Small Eye.


Eyelid  (Make 1):  
with Cherry Red,
Chain 16, 
slst in 2nd ch from hook, sc in nxt st, hdc-Inc in nxt st, hdc in nxt st, hdc-Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, slst in ea of nxt 2 sts, sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, slst in nxt st  (18 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Eyelid around both eyes.


Limb  (Make 4):  I do not utilize a turning chain in rows
with Buff,
Chain 13, 

___ ROW 1: in BLO, slst in 2nd ch from hook, slst in ea of nxt 11 sts, TURN  (12 sts)
___ ROW 2: in BLO, slst in ea st across  (12 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Limb to Pill as well as top of Hand or Foot.


Hand  (Make 2):
with White, 
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 6 sc in st (6 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (12 sts)
___ Rnd 3: [Inc in ea of nxt 3 sts, sc in ea of nxt 3 sts] twice  (18 sts)
___ Rnds 4-7: sc in ea st around  (18 sts/ea rnd)

___ Rnd 8: [sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times  (15 sts)
___ Rnd 9: in BLO, [sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times  (12 sts) 
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to weave through the front loops of Rnd 9 to close opening so that no stuffing can escape.

with White,

___ Rnd 1 with Rnd 9 facing away from you, join with sc in any unworked loop from Rnd 9, (Dec nxt 2 sts tog, sc in nxt st) 5 times  (10 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, Inc in nxt st] twice  (12 sts)

___ Rnd 3: in BLO, loosely slst in ea st around.
Finish off.  Secure and weave in tail to hide.


Foot  (Make 2):
with White,

Chain 13, 

___ ROW 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in ea of nxt 11 sts, TURN  (12 sts)
___ ROW 2: hdc in ea st across, TURN  (12 sts)
___ ROW 3: sc in ea st across  (12 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Boot Cuff to top of Foot.


Thumb/Nose : Bobble Stitch  (Make 3):
with White (x2) and Red (x1), 
Chain 3,  (YO, insert hook into 3rd ch on hook, YO, draw through 2 loops on hook) 4 times, YO draw though all 5 loops on hook, ch-1, slst into same ch as previous sts made.

Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Bobble Stitch to Hand (white) and between eyes (Nose/red)

with Black, add a Happy Smile to your Happy Pill.
