Easter Crochet-A-Long (Part II)

Ready to get started on adding a body for your limbs? Now, hopefully you have worked previous parts - otherwise, this post will be useless to you as you cannot make the body without first having something to build off of...

so... let's build a body..
grab those legs!
from previous instructions, you should have legs that look like this:

You will be building the Body from these stitches (of both legs)

Notice that you have BACK loops AND FRONT loops:

You will need to utilize the Front Loops, working in ONLY those loops (as if the Front Loops is a whole stitch in a round that you are used to working) - once you reach the end of the front loops, you will rotate your piece slightly clockwise, to gain access to the opposite side (the back loops) to work in the same manner, using only these unworked loops.

Begin working in the FLO for joining round

Remember: This pattern is worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise noted.  Stuff your piece as you work as there are NO “stuff here” indicators present within the pattern instructions.

Body  (Make 1) :
with Main Color,
___ Rnd 1: join with sc working in st #1 (see above photo) in FLO of Leg 1, sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Inc in nxt st, pick up Leg 2 and beginning in st #1 of 2nd Leg, sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, Inc in nxt st (12 sts made so far – legs connected at 1 point), working AROUND the end (as if working a flat round) in BLO of Leg 2, sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, Inc in nxt st and in corner st of Leg 1 – rejoin, working in BLO, sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, Inc in nxt st  (24 sts)

by the end of LEG 1, you should have something similar to this:

notice the Increase in the last st of leg 1 -
by the end of SIDE 1 (joining the 2 legs together) you should have something similar to this:

and by the end of ROUND 1, you should have something similar to this:

notice that you now have a familiar looking round - continue on to Rnd 2, working in both loops as usual, and complete the Body

___ Rnd 2: [sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Inc in nxt st] 6 times  (30 sts)
___ Rnd 3: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st] 10 times  (40 sts)
___ Rnds 4-7: sc in ea st around  (40 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 8: [sc in ea of nxt 8 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 4 times  (36 sts)
___ Rnd 9: sc in ea st around  (36 sts)
___ Rnd 10: [sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 6 times  (30 sts)
___ Rnds 11-12: sc in ea st around  (30 sts/ea rnd)

___ Rnd 14: sc in ea st around  (24 sts)
___ Rnd 15: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 6 times  (18 sts)
___ Rnd 16: sc in ea st around  (18 sts)
___ Rnd 17: [sc in ea of nxt 4 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times  (15 sts)
___ Rnd 18: sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, squeeze front and back pieces flat together - working through both thicknesses (4 lps total) sc in ea of nxt 3 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog, sc in ea of nxt 3 sts   (7 sts)  Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to secure Body to Head.

Head  (Make 1) :
with Main Color,
___ Rnd 1: Using either the [ch 2, begin work in 2nd st from hook] or [magic circle] method to begin project, 8 sc in st  (8 sts)
___ Rnd 2: [sc in nxt st, 3 sc in nxt st] 4 times  (16 sts)
___ Rnd 3: Inc in ea of nxt 2 sts, sc in ea of nxt 5 sts, Inc in ea of nxt 3 sts, sc in ea of nxt 5 sts, Inc in nxt st  (22 sts)
___ Rnd 4: [Inc in ea of nxt 3 sts, sc in ea of nxt 8 sts] twice  (28 sts)
___ Rnd 5: [sc in nxt st, Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Inc in nxt st, sc in ea of nxt 9 sts] twice  (32 sts)
___ Rnds 6-8: sc in ea st around  (32 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 9: [sc in ea of nxt 14 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] twice  (30 sts)
___ Rnd 10: [sc in ea of nxt 8 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times  (27 sts)
___ Rnd 11: sc in ea st around  (27 sts)
___ Rnd 12: [sc in ea of nxt 7 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 3 times  (24 sts)
___ Rnd 13: sc in ea st around  (24 sts)
___ Rnd 14: [sc in ea of nxt 2 sts, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 6 times  (18 sts)
___ Rnds 15-16: sc in ea st around  (18 sts/ea rnd)
___ Rnd 17: [sc in nxt st, Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 6 times  (12 sts)
___ Rnd 18: [Dec nxt 2 sts tog] 6 times  (6 sts)
Finish off, leaving sufficient tail remaining to weave through the front loops of Rnd 18 to close opening.  Secure and weave in remaining tail to hide.

It is my SUGGESTION that you do not attach any pieces together just yet until you see all the pieces together and can play with them using pins to create the perfect look - but, if you are anything like me... the waiting is the hard part!!

When I click on your "Join Us Here on Ravelry.com" link above, it takes me to my blog on bloodspot.com, not to Ravelry. ... hmmmm?!?!!?

Hello Becky - Part I of the CAL is listed in the left hand margin of the blog under the heading of "Easter Crochet Along"
I do not know what Bloodspot is? and when I tried to enter that in to my browser a site never came up - however, the link is correct above and should open up a separate window so you do not lose your place here.
If you are having issues, you might want to clear your browser cookies or make sure that a 'pop up blocker' isn't the culprit. If anyone else is having issues with the link backlinking to bloodspot, com please let me know by eMailing me at fiberdoodles@gmail.com so that I can ask Google to look into what could possibly be the problem.
