Handful of Kitten

The 11th in the Handful Series is a little late in her introduction.

This sweet little Kitty has been waiting for her time to shine.  And now is perfect, since I am currently working so hard on charity works to benefit many of her furry counterparts in the real world.

Each year, thousands of kitties are searching for their forever homes to spend the holidays in.  This little kitty would love to spend the holidays with you and your family!  She'd be purrfect peeking from a stocking on Christmas morning or even playing within a bow on the top of a package.

The Handful Series was designed to give you the absolute freedom to customize as you wish - creating your very own personalized handmade and heartfelt gift.  Color changes (or lack there of)is completely at purchaser’s discretion. The use of embroidery techniques or purchased plastic additions may be employed to finish your doodle.  Basically - There is NO right or wrong way to make your doodle.

A Handful of Kitten contains 8 pages of pattern instructions, with detail oriented photographs and instructions to help you bring this happy, 8 inch little friend together.

Thankful Thursday - Week II

Well, technically, it's week 3 of November, but I do not think anyone will fault me for ignoring November 1st of this year since Sandy made such a mess of things.  Many, MANY on the east coast are still without power; (work just sent 7 more crews down on Saturday to help with restorations) but especially since a Nor'easter came in on Sandy's heels and just as people had finally gotten restored... boom, out goes the lights again...

FiberDoodlesbyK4TT has been able to donate this year, (thanks to wonderful clients who've purchased this month) helping many animals;  victims of this devastation.  (Many fleeing from Sandy, evacuated their homes leaving behind their pets.  Now these animals are in shelters and being cared for by organizations like 2ndChance AnimalShelter (from MA) in hotel rooms - now, with no electricity).  There is still a long way to go...

Another animal advocate, which I have followed for YEARS... is Sara of Crafting4Greyhounds.  This wonderful lady, residing in the UK; is a doodler... honest.  In her collection she has several in the KISS Series, including the Elephant, Puppy and Bunny, but those are for personal - her passion is doodling for the hounds.

Sara, in addition to fostering greyhounds, works with several charities to ensure that these majestic animals are given a second chance once their 'entertainment value' is over.  You can find her products here in her shop - Crafting 4 Greyhounds

from the United Kingdom we travel to Spain... Luziane is no stranger to the FiberDoodles by K4TT blog!  She's been featured here before for her beautiful fiber interpretations from FiberDoodles patterns.

I believe I first met MAIu in 2011, but it wasn't until recently that I discovered her passion for helping children and animals!  Once you take a look at her Facebook page you cannot help but to be both inspired and enchanted with her creative eye and generous heart.

Submit your shop address and a brief description of your charity for review to fiberdoodles@gmail.com  FDbyK4TT will be showcasing Doodlers each Thursday, throughout the month of November.

Out of My Depths...

So .. I have an admission to make...
most 'gamers' are of the male persuasion... but, not in this household.

My 12 year old daughter knows more about Halo, Minecraft and Call of Duty .. than she does about clothing, makeup and boys.
Well, she gets it honestly - her dad has graced the pages of more than a few "Gaming Magazines" in his time..

So, when she asked me to make her a "Hunter" doll.. I have to admit that I was just OUT of MY COMFORT Zone...

Left 4 Dead - "Hunter"
WallPaper by chitototoy
but... I knew just who to turn to...
My very dear and close friend Erin Scull of Erin's Toys
Erin and I have been close since she bought her first crochet pattern from FiberDoodles in early 2010 - so it only seemed natural to ask 'Auntie Erin' if she could create a FanArt doll (since she is so fabulous at it), of this ... er umm..  thing.

and she did!!

Yeah, I know... he is SOOO much cuter than the original... but it's Amigurumi..
and as FiberDoodles found out very early; even Piddle and Poo (Number 1 & Number 2) could be adorable, in Amigurumi.

The Zombie Hunter Pattern is available in her etsy.com shop as well as her  Ravelry.com shop for a modest $3.95USD

Thank you Erin.  My little gamer LOVES her Hunter..
and I love you for taking the time to fulfill her wishes!

Thankful Thursday

Some might remember me asking for those of you working with or for charity to send me links to your shop(s) so that I could share your finished doodles with the extended FiberDoodles Family.
So for November, where here in the United States we celebrate "Thanksgiving"; I thought it was not only appropriate but preferential to share doodlers who donate their time and doodles to local charities.

One of my most frequent clients is Meghan of Southern Sewing Mama.  This little southern gal and I hit it off straight away... and how could we not?  She's got a heart so big and warm, you just can't help but to enjoy working with her.

Okay, shhh.. cause I am not supposed to tell you about this - but I think she deserves every ounce of credit, so I'll whisper...
Did you know that for every item she makes and sells, she makes an identical item to donate?  Did I tell you she had a big heart or what??!
Currently, I know she is working with shelters that benefit Battered Women and Children in the Baton Rouge, LA area.  So, please, checkout her Facebook Page or her Blog and allow her to help you as well as help out local charities.

and although not a "doodler", I had to give a shout out to Chassity of 2 Little C's

Although I rarely have time anymore to check out fellow designer's blogs, when I came in on Sunday to update for the week ahead, I couldn't help but notice her Blog in my blog list and it's latest entry.  "Blankets for the Kitties".  Anyone who crochets, knits or makes for animals most definitely deserves a kind word from this blog!

If you have not yet submitted your shop, there is still time.  I'd like to only showcase 2 per week, but if we have more, we can certainly squeeze everyone in :)
Submit your shop address and a brief description of your charity for review to fiberdoodles@gmail.com  FDbyK4TT will be showcasing Doodlers each Thursday, throughout the month of November.

Snowman & Reindeer - KISS Rattles

Few know that the KISS Series was originally intended to be 'rattles'.  In fact, the proto-type KISS Giraffe, that was given to my neighbor who wanted me to create the line; has a rattle inside it's tear-dropped shaped head.  However, in writing up the pattern, one critical item was omitted from the 'Materials' list.. the RATTLE and thus, the dolls became, simply cute stuffed critters to make, give and collect.

Purchase KISS Series Rattles on Etsy.com

It has always been my vision to make a line specifically geared towards babies and toddlers and for several weeks during the summer - that singular goal took priority over making a catalog of other projects on the Doodles list of "to-do's"

This holiday season, I offer you these cuties!  Perfect for little boys or girls, these rattles are the perfect size for little hands.  Each rattle is approximately  8 inches tall, with handles that measure 1.5" across/5" Circumference  (Reindeer) and 2" across/6" Circumference (at widest point - Snowman).

Sold separately, or as a set - these rattles are a wonderful companion to the KISS Series.  Soft, floppy and adorable fun for you little one.

Santa Baby..

Santa Baby, slip some catnip under the tree, for me..
I've been an awfully good girl.
Santa Baby, just hurry down the chimney tonight...

Santa Baby, a can of cat food or two, will do
I'll wait up for you dear
Santa Baby, just hurry down the chimney tonight...

Think of all the fun, I've missed
scurrying critters but still I didn't hiss.
It's been so hard, to be this sweet
Don't I deserve a little kitty treat?

Santa honey, there's one more thing I really do need - indeed..
someone who'll really love me a-lot
So Santa Baby, just hurry down the chimney tonight!

Anyone who has followed the FiberDoodles blog for any length of time, knows my devotion to the 4-legged friends, especially those of the feline purr-suasion.    Every year, I devote a vast amount of time to fulfilling the needs of the feline friends around me.  This year, I thought I would share one of those treats with you.

This little "Santa Paw" would be a blessing, filled with some feline treats for any shelter who's crates and cages are over-flowing with purr-sonality.  These stockings work up very quickly and can be made in 3 different styles - instructions are provided for 2 (the LpSt and Ruffle), but you could always just use single crochet in White to finish off the cuff.

Shelter Kitties don't need fancy to satisfy them - just love!
Open your heart to a Shelter Kitty today and make a few "Santa Paws" ... and if you have some time left over, you can make some Santa Paws for the 4-legged furr-balls in your life :)

Sweet Baby, Sweet Dreams

There's one thing about being the "gal with the hooks"...
whenever a friend is in a fix for a quick gift and short in the finance department, your phone is gonna ring!
My girlfriend, who's been there for me more times than I could begin to count; approached me when she needed a simple, but elegant looking baby afghan.

Afghans and Baby Blankets are nothing new for me (although Doodlers rarely see such things), but I have always been extremely hesitant to write them up for anyone else.  (I did so many years ago, but it wasn't well received.)  So mostly, I would just keep my notes, diagrams and attempts, (chicken scratch really), to myself and make them as needed.

However, this time I took the next step and actually made it legible (to someone besides myself) and shipped it out to my associate for testing, so that others might enjoy this afghan as well.

The Cotton Candy Baby Afghan contains simple stitches including single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc) and treble/triple crochet (tr) along with chaining and put together in eye-catching detail to make this Baby Blanket stand out in a crowd.

This 12 Pointed Star Baby Afghan can be made with any worsted weight yarn or cotton in a single weekend for your next baby shower or birthday.  (It actually took me only about 8 hours to complete this particular model.)

A substitution in colors or even using a variegated yarn will create a one of a kind gift that you'll be proud to give and the Mom-to-Be will treasure for years to come.

The Cotton Candy Dreams for Baby Afghan contains 6 pages of pattern instructions, with detail oriented photographs (including a photo tutorial) and instructions to help you bring this sweet and fluffy 43 inch diameter gift together.
